Prospect Ky
History of Prospect
In its earliest years, Prospect was home to a handful of wealthy families who commuted to Louisville to work and farmers who managed modest livestock plantations. When the railroad came through in the early 1900s, it wasn’t long before the Prospect Store became a marketplace for goods exchange. Modern day Prospect was designed to be a place of natural beauty that was not overly commercialized or sprawled-out like other parts of Kentucky in the mid-sixties. Through the thoughtful creation of subdivision communities, Prospect became an example of how responsible growth could be achieved. The City of Prospect was incorporated in 1974. Today the population consists of roughly 8,000 people.
